Do We Have A Goaltender Controversy? + Steelers Make Moves

Oddly enough, the Penguins seems to be playing some of their best hockey of the season with just about half of their expected roster on the ice. Injuries continue to pile up, but so do the wins. Matt Murray has been struggling, but Marc-Andre Fleury has been fantastic. It’s just been a weird stretch, but the Pens are playing well, so we’re here to break it all down and give our takes!

Also, the Steelers saw some players go and others sign in Pittsburgh in free agency. Who left? Who are the new names? We break that all down and talk some draft strategy as well. All that, and more, in Episode 231!

Injuries Pile Up for Pens, NHL GM Meetings & NFL Free Agency

It was a wild week for the Penguins, and we start by breaking down the countless injuries that are piling up. How much longer can the team remain successful with so many players out? We also discuss the goaltenders and how Mike Sullivan once again has some difficult decisions to make. While recapping the games from this past week, we also debate what went down in Winnipeg & how players like Tom Sestito should or shouldn’t be used in the NHL. We also touch on the NHL General Manager meetings and give suggestions on how to improve the game. We wrap-up with a recap of NFL free agency frenzy, including some moves by the Steelers.

Evaluating Hainsey, Streit, & the Pens Deadline

New faces in new places! We start the episode by recapping the NHL trade deadline and the moves that Jim Rutherford made to gear the Penguins roster for another playoff run. Were enough moves made? We also judge the small sample size of performances we’ve seen from new defensemen Ron Hainsey and Mark Streit. With the Pens season reaching the important month of March, we discuss what we need to see from the team in order to be best ready for potential playoff matchups. Lastly, we discuss the rumors of potential free agent signings by the Pittsburgh Steelers of Darrelle Revis, Dre Kirkpatrick, and even Brandon Marshall.

Stadium Series Success; Hainsey & More at the Deadline?

The NHL Trade Deadline is fast approaching, and we’re trying to figure out all of the scenarios in which the Pens may or may not add to their roster. Who will stay? Who will go? Who will come back in return? Will any deals be made? Will Marc Andre-Fleury remain a Penguin? We debate all of that, and more. We also talk about the Pens’ 4-2 victory over Philadelphia in the Stadium Series game at Heinz Field! Dan shares his experience from being in attendance, and we discuss the ebbs and flows of the action. All that, and more, in Episode 225!

Let’s Make a Deal, Pens Creep Toward Trade Deadline

The Penguins haven’t been playing their best hockey lately, and the state of the roster is banged up. With that being the case, we toss around some ideas and scenarios about potential trades and needs of the Penguins as the NHL trade deadline approaches! We also recap the games from last week, Crosby’s 1000th point, and the bizarre coaching carousel in Montreal.

We also touch on some Pirates and Steelers in 223! An extended interview with Bob Nutting and Andrew McCutchen’s Players’ Tribune article were released. Did these affect anyone’s perception on things heading into Spring Training? And the Steelers are focused on re-signing Antonio Brown and Le’Veon Bell. Ben Roethlisberger’s successor? Not so much… All that, and more, in Episode 223!

Pens Struggle, More Trade Rumors, & Lawrence Timmons

Three Big Pens Wins, Fleury Trade Rumors, & Steelers/Pirates News

We talk a bit about each game and focus on what a win against the Blue Jackets might mean, and whether or not this series is becoming a real rivalry. We also break down Marc-Andre Fleury’s start against the Blues, and discuss more trade rumors involving him and the Dallas Stars.

Before wrapping things up, we also discuss Art Rooney II’s comments on Le’Veon Bell, Antonio Brown, Ben Roethlisberger, and Martavis Bryant, and then we talk about Clint Hurdle’s announcement of outfield position changes for the Pirates. All that, and more, in Episode 219!

LOL Browns, Steelers Win; Pens on Fire Headed to Bye Week

It’s time to talk about the most meaningless football game we’ve witnessed in a long, long time. That’s right, it’s time to talk about Steelers-Browns! The Steelers won, but really it was more like the Browns lost, in typical Browns fashion. We break it all down, and discuss a few items of interest from the game. Landry Jones, Demarcus Ayers, and DeAngelo Williams all gave us performances to talk about. Then we talk briefly about the playoffs. It’s Steelers-Dolphins in the Wild Card game, so we do a quick preview.

Next up is some Penguins talk, and this team just continues to be resilient. They come back from deficits on a nightly basis, and show zero amount of worry when trailing. We also talk about injury updates to Kris Letang, Trevor Daley, Olli Maatta, and Matt Murray. Lastly, we go through our weekly discussion on trying to figure out what the hell the Pens are going to end up doing with these two goaltenders.

All that, and more, in Episode 205!

Previewing Steelers-Browns; Where Have All the Pens D-Men Gone?

Time to preview the final regular season game of the year for the Steelers! What’s on the line this weekend against the Browns? Well, quite simply, not much… The Steelers probably won’t start many of their impact players, so we’re focused on the team getting rested and ready for a playoff game a week from now. We talk about that, and some of the ins and outs of this game.

To start things off, though, we discuss the Penguins’ recent win over the New Jersey Devils and how some of the young talent on the blue line is making an impact, given the injury situation with defensemen. And on that note, Brian Dumoulin is out 4-6 weeks with a broken jaw. How will the Penguins adapt without him, Kris Letang, and Olli Maatta? We discuss.

Dan also tells us stories from his trip to Columbus, and breaks down in detail the fan experience there. All that, and more, in Episode 203!
