It was an exciting and storyline-filled weekend for Pittsburgh sports, and we’re here to recap it all! Starting with the Pens taking games 1 and 2 in Washington, we look back at how these games developed and the huge advantage the Pens have coming back to Pittsburgh. We then take a look at the NFL Draft and the wild moves of Round 1, along with each of the Steelers’ draft picks, including hometown favorite and Pitt great James Conner. All this, and much more in Episode 241!
It’s mostly Pens talk in Episode 233, as we discuss the most frequent, yet least fun topic to talk about: Penguins injuries. We break down the current state of the roster ahead of Sunday’s game against Philadelphia. Then we talk about whether or not the Penguins will be healthy come playoff time, and if the organization is trying to ensure they’ll be close to full health by the first round. The Pens, Capitals and Blue Jackets are battling for playoff position. We try and predict the finish and also discuss whether or not we like the current playoff format.
Then it’s time to move into Steelers talk, as we discuss the signings of Tyson Alualu, Coty Sensabaugh, and Knile Davis. Lastly, Jung-Ho Kang may not even play for the Pirates this season. Do you want him back? We debate that and much more in Episode 233!
Oddly enough, the Penguins seems to be playing some of their best hockey of the season with just about half of their expected roster on the ice. Injuries continue to pile up, but so do the wins. Matt Murray has been struggling, but Marc-Andre Fleury has been fantastic. It’s just been a weird stretch, but the Pens are playing well, so we’re here to break it all down and give our takes!
Also, the Steelers saw some players go and others sign in Pittsburgh in free agency. Who left? Who are the new names? We break that all down and talk some draft strategy as well. All that, and more, in Episode 231!
It was a wild week for the Penguins, and we start by breaking down the countless injuries that are piling up. How much longer can the team remain successful with so many players out? We also discuss the goaltenders and how Mike Sullivan once again has some difficult decisions to make. While recapping the games from this past week, we also debate what went down in Winnipeg & how players like Tom Sestito should or shouldn’t be used in the NHL. We also touch on the NHL General Manager meetings and give suggestions on how to improve the game. We wrap-up with a recap of NFL free agency frenzy, including some moves by the Steelers.
New faces in new places! We start the episode by recapping the NHL trade deadline and the moves that Jim Rutherford made to gear the Penguins roster for another playoff run. Were enough moves made? We also judge the small sample size of performances we’ve seen from new defensemen Ron Hainsey and Mark Streit. With the Pens season reaching the important month of March, we discuss what we need to see from the team in order to be best ready for potential playoff matchups. Lastly, we discuss the rumors of potential free agent signings by the Pittsburgh Steelers of Darrelle Revis, Dre Kirkpatrick, and even Brandon Marshall.
The Penguins haven’t been playing their best hockey lately, and the state of the roster is banged up. With that being the case, we toss around some ideas and scenarios about potential trades and needs of the Penguins as the NHL trade deadline approaches! We also recap the games from last week, Crosby’s 1000th point, and the bizarre coaching carousel in Montreal.
We also touch on some Pirates and Steelers in 223! An extended interview with Bob Nutting and Andrew McCutchen’s Players’ Tribune article were released. Did these affect anyone’s perception on things heading into Spring Training? And the Steelers are focused on re-signing Antonio Brown and Le’Veon Bell. Ben Roethlisberger’s successor? Not so much… All that, and more, in Episode 223!
We’re back with another episode of the Chris and Dan Podcast, and this time around we’re focusing on the Penguins and Steelers! We start off talking about the Penguins’ recent struggles against lesser competition. Injuries definitely played a part, but we break down each of the last three games. We also dive head first into more trade rumors. Marc-Andre Fleury headlines the discussion once again. Then we transition into some Steelers talk, and we focus on whether or not the Steelers should bring back Lawrence Timmons. All that, and more, in Episode 221!
The Pens returned from the All-Star break in strong form, winning games against Nashville, Columbus, and St. Louis. We talk a bit about each game and focus on what a win against the Blue Jackets might mean, and whether or not this series is becoming a real rivalry. We also break down Marc-Andre Fleury’s start against the Blues, and discuss more trade rumors involving him and the Dallas Stars.
Before wrapping things up, we also discuss Art Rooney II’s comments on Le’Veon Bell, Antonio Brown, Ben Roethlisberger, and Martavis Bryant, and then we talk about Clint Hurdle’s announcement of outfield position changes for the Pirates. All that, and more, in Episode 219!
The Steelers lost. They were pummeled — that’s more accurate. New England was better in every facet of the game. We’re just trying to deal with it. Join us to help get over the loss.
Sunday night was excruciating, painful, confusing, and in the end, glorious. The Steelers defeated Kansas City, 18-16, thanks to six field goals from the Wizard of Boz, Chris Boswell. And now, it’s on to New England for the AFC Championship game! We break the entire game down — from the offense that couldn’t finish, to the defense that was stellar, to the special teams that was shockingly good — in this episode. Chris thought the game was over in the first quarter. He declared it a Steelers loss in the fourth quarter. Dan, on the other hand, was more optimistic. In the end, we’re both pumped and sit down for a fun hour of Steelers talk! All that, and more, in Episode 212!
